Founded in 2007, UBMD Emergency Medicine provides emergency medical care to patients across Western New York. Our core mission is to educate residents in the practice of Emergency Medicine, as our leading candidates work along with various divisional specialties and support the highest quality of patient care and experience.

Patient care is supervised by University faculty, board certified Emergency Physicians. We have an established staff of over 150 physicians and advance practice providers (APP) with expertise in Emergency Medicine. Our physicians – supported by experienced nurse practitioners and physician assistants – practice evidence based, state of the art medical care.

To assist us in achieving our goals, our emergency medicine practice is supported by:

Emergency Medicine Research

The Research Division aims to advance the field of emergency medicine through high quality, innovative, timely and collaborative research. With a dedicated team of research specialists and emergency department data collectors, the division supports and engages faculty and residents in all aspects of the research process.

Sports Medicine

The Sports Medicine Division promotes the expertise of emergency medicine physicians in caring for injured and ill athletes, both on the sideline and in the emergency department. Our attending physicians often cover local sports teams as the designated airway and cardiovascular physicians.

Emergency Medicine Ultrasound

The Ultrasound Division provides high quality education to our residents, attending physicians and APPs. We promote interdepartmental collaboration and pursue continued innovation through ultrasound research.
